Dunedin Heritage
One of Dunedin’s great strengths is the way it lives with and values its heritage. Rather than turning its many fine Victorian and Edwardian buildings into museum pieces, the city cherishes and uses them.
Dunedin has a rich history that has been preserved documented and made accessible to all. Research family history or simply enjoy Dunedin’s wealth of local history. Discover what Dunedin’s forefathers endured in establishing a new colony and what makes this an endearing city.
Walk the streets of Dunedin and enjoy the architecture, visit one of the museums, the art gallery or drive to Oamaru. In Oamaru’s heritage precinct you can immerse yourself in the past with penny farthings and Victorian clothing clad workers.
